In My Garden

I took a short walk this morning. I just needed to get out into the cool, clear air before I started my workday!

I had my camera with me, because if I don't take it, I am sure to see something wonderful that I need to share. You know that feeling...I have missed the photo of a lifetime, several times! LOL! I'll have to talk to my buddy Doodles. She gets great photos all the time! I wonder if her camera is strapped to a belt loop???

As luck would have it, neither creature nor flower caught my eye until I walked up the front steps. My iris are looking particularly beautiful this morning! I snapped a few photos and I hope you enjoy them as much as I did!

Until next time, Chris

Easter Babies!

For the last 3 years, a pair of Canadian Geese have nested on top of our old trailer. On Friday, my husband was able to get some photos. The parents were sure having a time keeping them up there! By Sunday morning, they had left, taking up residence at our neighbors pond.

I love this time of year when we get to see all the new calves, bunnies, fawns & birds of all kinds.

I hope you'll enjoy seeing this happy family!

Easter Blessings!

He is not here; he has risen, just as he said.
Matthew 28:6 NIV

Hallelujah! Jesus, my Savior lives!

Lord, I thank you for my own salvation & I pray that many will come to know your saving grace in my own church and in churches around the world this Sunday! Holy Spirit, urge them to come. Preachers, "tell the old, old story of Jesus & His Love"! In Jesus' precious name, Amen!

Dear friends, I wish you and your families the blessings of Easter, Chris

Arrgh! Plastic Water Bottles & Styrofoam Cups & Containers!

(Hint: There is a duplicate of this post over at my Today's Organized Kitchen blog, with a different giveaway! You can enter both!)

Did you know that Americans consumed 50 billion single serve water bottles in one year? It is estimated that only 2 in 10 bottles are recycled. Where are the rest? You got it, in landfills. These PET (polyethylene terephthalate) plastic bottles take 1000 years to biodegrade! Then, you need to consider the energy consumed in the manufacture, transportation and disposal of these items. Does this concern you?

Now, let's talk about Styrofoam (Polystyrene) cups & containers! While the technology for recycling polystyrene is available, the market for recycling is very small and shrinking. Most of it ends up in the landfills, and it often breaks up into small pieces that can choke animals & clog their digestive systems.

I plan to eliminate these things from my home and lifestyle! Won't you join me? It's pretty simple really.

  • Get a nice sturdy travel mug for you hot beverages

  • Purchase a reusable sports bottle for drinking water on-the-go

  • Take your own "to go" box when you eat out. Stick it your purse and when it's time to corral the leftovers, you won't be taking styrofoam home.

(Tupperware's FlatOut collapsible bowls are perfect for this!)

Edited to add: My buddy Doodles reminded me that I neglected to mention plastic bags! Here some info that she has provided on her blogs that are MUST READ! Thanks, my friend!
