Has it really been THAT long?

Wow! It's been half a month since I posted!  Time sure gets away from you when you're having fun...NOT!

I am just about over the worst cold I can remember having in years!  I suppose the intensity wasn't as bad as some, but 4 weeks into it and I am still coughing occasionally.  I haven't felt like leaving the house for weeks.  I even skipped the local Depression Glass Show; a real passion of mine! THAT is just how bad I felt.

To add to the misery of a cold, I found out during this time that I am going to lose my job!  Yep, isn't that special?

I have been with this company for almost 15 years, surviving 2 acquisitions, and have never had anything but a very good (sometimes stellar) performance review.

After the first time the company was sold, the new company closed the plant in my town.  I have been telecommuting (working from home) ever since.  Now, 7 years later, we are being required to move to an office on-site.  There is an office in my area, but I have to move to an office 3 hours away!  I told them to go ahead & terminate me!

Why?  We live in California.  Thankfully in one of the "more affordable" areas.  They want me to move to Silicon Valley, 3 hours away.  I can't realistically afford to move there.  I could drive there for 3 days a week and stay in a hotel, on my own dime.  That would be a complete disruption of our lives.  My husband is 72 years old and I am not leaving him for that often or for that amount of time.

So what am I going to do?

First, I'm trusting the Lord that this is His will for me.  He will help me to make the best of it!  If you're a pray-er, will you pray that I continue to listen & follow his leading?

Second, I am going to kick my Tupperware business into high gear!  I can replace my "pretty good" corporate salary with Tupperware earnings in just a few months.  It's what I would rather be doing anyway!
I won't bore you with all the details of my Tupperware career.  If you're interested to know more just click on the picture below and it will take you to my Today's Organized Kitchen Blog.

I'll be very careful not to bore you all with Tupperware.  But, if you ever hear of anyone who wants Tupperware, or might be looking for a career in direct sales, please send 'em to me!*Ü*

On the bright side, I will have more time for blogging, crafting, decorating, picture framing, etc.!

This blog should become much more interesting soon!

  1. I am a pray-er and you can count on me. I know I forget sometimes, but He really does work all things together for good for those who love Him.

And about that cold. I had the same one. It's been about a month now for me, too, and I still wake up coughing some. I think it's time for it to be over for both of us.

Can't wait to see what God has in store for you.

  2. Oh, Chris...this is so sad about your job! I think you have a great plan in place though...especially trusting in the Lord. Isn't it wonderful that you are already established with Tupperware??? As soon as I start getting some income again (I have been unemployed the last 1.5 years, and just recieved a job offer which I accepted)...I may look at all the fabulous Tupperware. I have a lot of pieces from the 80's that still are in fantasic shape! I think I would like some of the kids stuff for my grandchildren!!!

P.S. I will love seeing what you will do with your creativity once you have more time...it should be loads of fun for you (and us)!!!

  3. That is a bit of a kick in the head, isn't it. But you're doing the right thing, trusting God. He will provide! I'll be praying for you too.

  4. Geez...that's getting hit when you're down. Glad you're on the mend, but so sorry to hear about the job loss. Sounds as though you have a game plan, so hopefully this time next year you'll look back and say, "it was a good thing..."
Thanks for visiting at Buttermilk Cottage today. Please come back often.
    Best,
    Susan
