It's time for Thankful Thursday again! I can't believe another week has flown by! I first want to thank Rhondi at Rose Colored Glasses for hosting us each week.
Today, I am so thankful for the Autumn Harvest!
This is the season when one of my favorite veggies is everywhere, in abundance. Squash! Acorn squash, pumpkins, baked, in soup or pies,I love them all! But, see that large, oblong, golden beauty at the top of this photo? Not just any squash, but my absolute favorite, Spaghetti Squash!
If you have never tried Spaghetti Squash, you just don't know what you've been missing! It is delicious, versatile & it's a squash that even most picky kids will eat. After all it "looks" like fun! And if you let them help "string" the squash, they'll enjoy it even more!
This link will take you to a page with cooking instructions and other interesting facts.
This is a scrumptious recipe: Spaghetti Squash Casserole, though I even love it just with butter and salt & pepper!
I am truly thankful for these delicious, nutritious and even fun vegetables. They keep a long time if stored properly, and are a wonderful part of our tummy-warming Autumn meals!
Thankfully, Chris

I have not tried spaghetti squash. You've tempted me to go on a hunt for some.
ReplyDeleteYour blog is very beautiful; I enjoyed browsing through it.
I had never heard of spaghetti squash, so I learned something new today! I think squash are neat. We usually only grow the 'normal' kind (green and yellow) but next year when we make our garden bigger, we may just have to put some fun ones in too!
ReplyDeleteHi Chris...I have never tried spaghetti squash ~ guess I'm not much of a squash person. Although I do love zucchini bread...lol!
ReplyDeleteHave a great Thursday!
Hugz,
Michele
I love squash too. My mother tells me that I loved it even as a baby. Who doesn't love squash?
ReplyDeleteI LOVE squash...esp. acorn! How have I never tried spaghetti squash??? I have seen it many times. I have heard about how great it is. I am going to definitely try it this month!
ReplyDeleteYou and me both, Chris, i love, love, squash in any form! My fave is the Turban (?) squash, it tastes so nutty!
ReplyDeleteI learned to score the acorn squash and nuke it a couple of minutes makes it easier to halve before baking. It is it's own baking and serving dish. :) You see, I am so enthusiastic because this year was my first time for acorn squash.

Thanks for participating on my poll. Can't wait to see what people like the most.
ReplyDeleteI have seen spaghetti squash before and it's quite cool when you open them as they really resemble like spaghetti's. My favorite is acorn squash.
Have a great day, Chris!
I'm the only one is my family who likes squash, but that doesn't stop me from eating it! I have an acorn squash to cook up soon, but I think butternut is my favorite!

What a beautiful thing to be thankful for!
ReplyDeleteI'm only familiar with yellow squash and zucchini. That orange one, in the middle of the picture, is pretty, pretty. They're all pretty, though! Did you take that picture? You need to give me some photography lessons!!!
Blessings,
Julie
