It's time for another Thankful Thursday, hosted by Rhondi at Rose Colored Glasses.
Today, I am thankful for the view from my kitchen window! As I looked at the bright, clear sunshine, I was reminded of the awful smoke & heat we had to contend with a few weeks back. It'll be in the 90's today, but I'll be seeing blue sky.
Today, I am thankful for the view from my kitchen window! As I looked at the bright, clear sunshine, I was reminded of the awful smoke & heat we had to contend with a few weeks back. It'll be in the 90's today, but I'll be seeing blue sky.
See that small deer by the tree? I am thankful for her too. Even if it does mean that if I want a rose garden & hostas, I'll have to fence them in! We have plenty of deer traveling through the yard. There's even a big buck with an impressive set of antlers that I see frequently at dusk.
We also have a group of 10 turkeys that visit the yard every morning and evening. I tried to get a photo of them yesterday, but by the time I got the camera, they had headed off into the neighbor's pasture. If I can catch them this morning, I'll add the picture later. (GOT 'EM!) I am thankful for the entertainment they provide! There are a couple of adults and the rest are juveniles. They take dust baths out past the lawn and pick fights with one another, establishing their "pecking order", I suppose.

I really enjoy having critters visit my yard. Even the coyotes & skunks are interesting at a distance. :)
Pocket gophers & ground squirrels however, are another story entirely!

I love seeing the deer this time of year. We see them pretty much every day now, but I'm always yelling "MR. C! Come look! It's a deer!" hee hee. They're always in the soybean fields around our house. (They aren't our fields, or else I'd probably like the deer a little less! :) )

Your view is spectacular, what a landscape. I miss seeing deer, where we used to live we saw deer all the time. To have this lovely scene just out your window is such a blessings. Happy Thankful Thursday. Karen
ReplyDeleteThat is some view, Chris! Reminds me a bit of the place where I grew up, miles of fields around...and deer! Been many a year since I saw deer close up like this. So enjoyed your photo! Oh, and so glad you made the carrot soup recipe--and enjoyed it!! :o) Happy Thursday ((HUGS))
ReplyDeleteI love the view from your window. Turkeys? That would be exciting. We've got nothing but deer and coyote around here. They symbol for the nearby town is a fox because of the Fox River. I've never, ever seen a fox in the fourteen years we've lived here. I'm determined to spot a fox.

You have such a beautiful piece of property and are so blessed to have so many critters that visit you! I would love to have deer visit my yard even though a lot of people complain about the damage they do to flowers and gardens. It would be worth it to me :o)

What a beautiful view you have, Chris! The deer must really be a sight to see although I've heard they are very destructive. But we must bloom where we're planted and enjoy the gifts we're given ... one woman's curse is another's blessing (mine are rabbits ... they eat everything in my garden!)

My goodness, Chris!!! I cannot believe the view from your kitchen window. Can't get much closer to heaven than that!! It is just beautiful and I could just sit there and stare for hours on end!

I've seen a bunny, some dogs (woo hoo, huh?) and some chicken carcasses (whatever got them brought them to our property to feast.
My husband and son have seen deer and foxes!
