Taking a Break

I've posted this pretty bowl of Forget-Me-Nots in hope that you'll not forget me during my break from blogging! I hope that the break will be a short one.

On the Friday after Thanksgiving, I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer. I will be having a complete hysterectomy on January 6th. The cancer cells are grade 1, which is a good thing. It "appears" to be early stage, another good thing. I am counting on the surgery to be the end of it!

I will be visiting you all as often as I can, but I can't seem to get my mind focused enough to write. (You can bet I'll have some stuff to write about when it's all over though! *Ü*)

I'd would truly appreciate your prayers and good thoughts! My daughter will post an update after the surgery, and I'll be back as soon as possible.

Love you all! Chris

  1. Wishing you good luck! Stage 1 is a great diagnosis. My husband is a cancer survivor - it's a very scarey diagnosis but your inner strength and faith in God will have alot to do with your recovery (whatever it entails - his was chemo and radiation). The hysterectomy will be OK too - not fun to recover from but it'll be relatively quick. Having had one myself - advise is to keep on top with pain meds! Will be thinking of you often! PAM

  2. I will pray for a speedy recovery! I know your surgery will be something you CAN recover from! And you will KNOW more about what is going on with your body afterwards. AS Pam mentioned, stay on top of the pain meds and it helps a LOT, I had to do that 3 times last year, and the scheduling helps to keep symptoms in control. I made use of my alarm clock whether it was time to wake up or not, stay on schedule.

If you need me you know where to find me, I will look for your daughter's news! Love you girl! Things will be brighter SOON!

  8. Oh Chris honey, you are going to be ok , I promise . I guess you know I am a survivor of cancer and my best advise is prayer.I had everybody I knew and alot of people I didn't know that were praying for me . I tell everyone that God is still in the miracle business, halleleuyah ! Seriously , alot of things they said would happen to me NEVER did happened and I know it was prayer !
Please Chris,if you need someone to talk to give me a call or an email. If you want my phone number just let me know. And please keep us updated, cause we'll worry if you don't.
God bless and keep you sweet Chris.

  11. You continue to be in my prayers. I'll be looking for your daughter's post saying how great you're doing.

Wish I could cook you something. But even if we were next-door neighbors, that might not be a good thing!

  12. Hi Chris

  13. Cris dear - your news is disturbing but because you have been diagnosed in early stage I just know ALL WILL BE FINE. Stay positive in thought, this is very important. Know that you will be in the good Lord's hands and he will help you through this.

I too am a cancer survivor, my dh also, we know just how you feel. The diagnosis of cancer brings one to a standstill and you reel in disbelief. Your life will change, in so many ways for the better believe it or not. You will come through your surgery and any needed treatment looking at each day differently. You will relish every moment, see things with fresh eyes, be thankful for each small gift daybreak brings.

Our loving thoughts and prayers are being sent across the miles - we will anxiously await the good news after 1/6 and wish you a fast and full recovery.

2009 WILL be a good year for you, I just know it.
    Warm hugs - Mary.

  18. Hello Chris!

You take all the time you need to get well and know we will all be right here when you return!:o) Surgeries are not easy but sometimes necessary. I am most happy to hear although your diagnoses is not what we women want to hear, you will be alright!!:o) By the way the Forget-Me-Nots are just beautiful! Know that you will be in my prayers my friend. Blessing to you.

    Smiles...

  19. I am sorry. I missed this post and so many others and I feel terrible. I think I have tried to add your blog to the Googlereader ( I rely on it to point out all new posts) and I think yours is among a few that do not update. Arggh.
I certainly would have said a prayer and offered you support... and let's face it... it can't be too late for prayers and support, right?
    (((hugs)))
